Lumina

Hi Claudia -
I just wanted to say Thank you for allowing us to have Lumina in our lives.
She has come soooo far from when we adopted her and I just wanted to share with
you what joy she brings to us.
She is still a bit reserved with other new people but she totally trusts us.
For the first 8 months she would not come sit by me / us when we sat on the
floor with Chase. She would remain on her bed and watch from afar. Now she comes
and lays next to me and puts her head on my legs. If I stop petting her for
a minute or pay too much attention to Chase she nudges me with her head as if
to say "Hey there, don't forget about me". She was also very reserved
laying next to me on the floor. Now if I lay on the floor she comes next to
me and puts her face in my hands so we are connected.
Every day for the last several months she has become my personal bodyguard while
I take a shower. She comes in the room, clumps up the bathmats to create a cushion
and then lays in front of the shower and waits for me. Once I am finished she
stays in the bathroom while I get ready - going in and out. Finally when I am
dressed she slowly gets up and comes next to me with this look that says "Have
a nice day at work, Mom - I'll see ya when you get home".
When we prepare for our early morning walk she now jumps up and down - bouncing
on her front paws with excitement (a trick she learned from her brother Chase).
She absolutely loves going outside and seeing all her neighboring dog friends.
When we first got her she liked to go for walks but was reserved when met by
other dogs.
She loves all-natural raisins (she only gets 2 a day as a treat), she loves
rice, Pringles potato chips (which we rarely have), rice cheese and watermelon.
To see her get excited about a treat is so fun - as she is usually so mellow.
Although she has come so far - she is still the sweet, calm, loving, peaceful
dog she was when we first got her. Her behavior often reminds me to slow down
in life. She is such a wonderful dog (they both are) but I think it's the female-bond
thing and her peaceful nature I am just so overwhelmed by.
Anyway - I just wanted to say Thank you for rescuing her, thanks for all dogs
you save and thanks for being you.

With much appreciation - Becky, Jason, Chase & Lumi Lou (her nickname at
times).
